Planking and owling? So five minutes ago. The new Web trend du jour is the gravity-defying leisure dive!
“Sitting on lounge chairs wasn’t really doing it for us,” John Lewis (pictured), co-founder of LeisureDive.com, told The Daily.
The “LD” is a hurtling leap and a seemingly effortless freeze frame above a sparkling pool of water, as perfected by Lewis and his buddy and website co-founder Alex Scott, both 28, at their summer share house in Amagansett, N.Y. Tennis rackets, smoking jackets and Red Stripe beer are strongly encouraged props.
After spotlights on Comedy Central’s “Tosh.0” and the frat-friendly blog BroBible.com, the Leisure Dive is leaping to new heights online. The site’s hits have skyrocketed, and submissions are flooding in from California, Thailand and Greece.
Despite accusations of Photoshopping, weekend warriors Lewis and Scott stand by their dives.
“People think they’re fake because it’s shocking to see this nonchalant dude about to smack the water,” Lewis said. “But that’s exactly what’s happening.”
