As you hit the road for the long holiday weekend, you might want to steer west.

Allstate Insurance’s annual “America’s Best Drivers Report” was released yesterday, and you will get to the best cities by taking a big left turn on the map.

Fort Collins, Colo., ranked tops for the second year in the row. The average driver there is involved in an auto collision every 14 years, 28.6 percent better than the national average of 10 years, according to Allstate.

Eight of the top 10 best cities are west of the Mississippi River.

Conversely, the worst drivers navigate the narrow, congested roads of the East, led by Washington, D.C., where drivers are a whopping 107 percent more likely than average to be involved in a collision.
