Imagine two elegant residential high-rises, side by side, connected by a series of garden patios for the buildings’ residents to enjoy.
It sounds lovely, and it is — unless, of course, it ends up looking like the collapse of the World Trade Center in the 9/11 attacks, which, the Dutch architectural firm MVRDV is apparently just now realizing.
The firm has apologized for the design of “The Cloud,” its planned apartment complex in Seoul, South Korea, as prototype photos look conspicuously like the twin towers during the 9/11 attacks..
MVRDV spokeswoman Isabel Page told Co.Design that “there was no intention to create a resemblance to 9/11 or hurt anybody’s feelings.”
