All that glitters may be Gaultier.

Fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier has created a one-off gold bar for French gold investment company CPoR Devises.

The haute-couture gold bar went on sale in the U.S. yesterday, distributed by Texas-based Dillon Gage Metals, which said this is the first time a fashion icon has designed gold ingots.

Gaultier, designer of the infamous conical bra worn by Madonna in 1990, fashioned the 1-ounce, 24-karat bar bearing a heart and his trademark logo. A maximum of 5,000 will be made.

Yesterday, Dillon Gage quoted a price of $1,826.33 plus a $25 handling fee for a bar — while spot gold was trading for about $1,650 per ounce on the commodities market.
