Honda is best known for its fleet of fuel-efficient cars and rocket-like sportbikes, but its newest addition to the fleet in the U.S. is certainly turning heads. Unveiled yesterday at the International Motorcycle Show in New York, the Honda NC700X’s styling isn’t what has people talking – it’s the starting price tag of $6,900.
Available in early summer, the bike will ship in two trims: standard six-speed transmission or an automatic dual-clutch transmission with anti-lock braking system (ABS). The latter will set you back an additional $2,000. Other unique features of the adventure-style, cross-country cruiser include a 21-liter storage bin where the gas tank normally is. The gas tank has been repositioned under the seat with access under the cowl.
If that isn’t enough to whet your appetite, how about 60 miles to the gallon? Honda is a bit coy on horsepower and torque numbers but the 670cc liquid-cooled parallel twin is said to be quite torque-y in the mid-range.
